First Triathlon!

This picture is of Cheyenne running to the finish line.

So yesterday was a very important day for us. Cheyenne and I finished our first triathlon!! My times were: 300m swim - 5 mins 16mi bike - 57min and 3.2mi run - 23mins! I am very proud of myself and even more proud of Cheyenne. I am very grateful that I have a wife that likes to run races, although sometimes not by choice, since there has been a couple times that I sign her up without her consent. Cheyenne finished in 2hrs and 5 min, which is 5 minutes more than she has hoping for, but still a great race.
I was amazed how hard it was to run after the biking. I had to stop to walk three times. If you know me, I don't stop when I run, not even to drink water, so stopping to walk was a hard thing for me to do.
We both definitely enjoyed this experience and look forward to running more Tris in the future!

Shout Out

Yesterday I emailed back and forth with my friend Tyler regarding accountability, and how it is easy to let yourself down by not working out, but its harder when someone else is counting on you to work out. Today, I would like to give a 'Shout Out' to Tyler!
This morning I woke up to my alarm at 5a.m. and I knew there was a decision to be made; wake up and run or continue to enjoy the cold a/c and warm blankets! Life sure is full of tough choices. However the first thing that came to my mind was Tyler. Tyler woke up and ran Monday morning at 4a.m., wow that is dedication! What if Tyler woke up and ran again this morning? I know he would appreciate it if someone else was running with him, so I got up and ran my 3 miles. Knowing that another one of my buddies was up and training (hopefully, if not just let me believe you were) gave me the power to get out of bed.
Although Tyler gets most of the credit for me waking up and running, I must not forget the other people who made my run a success. Thank you, Plus One, Mandy Moore and Linkin Park for your encouragement during my run!

Marathon Training!

So yesterday started my Dallas White Rock marathon training. I have decided to use the Hal Higdon marathon training guide which helped me beat my best half marathon time. I hope that using this marathon will help me shave 20 minutes off my last marathon time. My goal is to finish in under 4 hours!
I can already foresee some obstacles, like our trip to Honduras, but maybe a little jog on white sandy beaches will keep me training.
I have read several places that it is always best to have a training partner, and I have been lucky enough to convince Mike, Blake and Tyler to join in the training. Apparently there is facebook talk that our wives might also be running the race, however that is yet to be confirmed!
My three miles yesterday were rough! I went out to run at about 8p.m. which really was due to the fact that Cheyenne and Kylie were watching 3 hours of the bachelor! What a waste, poor girls, I wonder if they know they will never get that time in their lives back?! Luckily today when i decided to write down my running schedule it coincided with running three miles yesterday, so I'm glad I'm already on track!

Not to offend you

'Babe I dont mean to insult you but i saw your belly was hanging over your pants more than usual sunday at church, so im glad we are joining a gym'

Those were the sweet words of my wife on Monday when we decided it was time to join a gym. The sad thing is, I was thinking the same thing, along with, good thing I wore this jacket to cover it up!

Cheyenne and I are scheduled to run our first full marathon December 13th! However due to the torrential rain we have been receiving in north Texas, our training has been replaced by hours of TV watching. Also, does anyone else think time change is overrated? Lets be real, most Americans are work-a-holics, and the few days of sunshine after work have been put 'to better use' at 5 a.m. for those who are actually up at that time.
We will try to post on our blog more often. I am horrible at writing, and Cheyenne is getting tired of revising e-mails I send her to look over before I send to clients/bosses, therefore we thought blogging would be good exercise to develop my writing skills. Feel free to correct any grammatical errors I write, trust me this will help me, and relieve Cheyenne of her part-time job.

Well, so much for blogging. This is me giving it another try, but we shall see. Obviously, a lot has happened since the last post. For starters we became homeowners :) We love love love the house, but it sure is a lot of work. Now we are working on making it "ours." Step one is removing the old lady wallpaper and painting the white walls. Its getting there.... (pics and more detailed posts coming soon)

testing, testing, 123

I decided to jump on the bandwagon and start blogging since that seems to be the thing to do after getting married. However, I still havent figured all this blog business out yet, so dont expect too much for a few weeks. To make a long story short, we are now settled into our apartment in Waxahachie and enjoying married life!
